In Japan, there is a hundreds of years-aged custom of restoring products with gold recognised as kintsugi. While this practice is generally applied to pottery, Buenos Aires-based collective MOLI has imagined a different use for it. Drawn to the nostalgia of classic gizmos, this Argentinian studio has dreamed up Golden Era, a collection in which iconic equipment have been fixed and brought back again to life. To do so, they turn to gold joinery and the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi—seeing splendor in the flawed or imperfect.
“The idea for Golden Period was born out of love for pop culture in general blended with some 80s nostalgia,” Sebastián Dias from MOLI, tells My Fashionable Achieved.
